St. Robert Bellarmine
Troop 499 History
2004-2013

In 2006, the adult leaders were Scoutmaster Ron Bush, Assistant Scoutmaster Greg Stevens, Committee Chair Don Convery, Charter Organization Representative Bill Condron, Advancements Chair Donna Woike, and Secretary Josie Holt.

In 2006, the scouts were Chris Boyd, Brandon Bush, Chris Bush, Jonathan Cochran, Scott Convery, David Gerrity, John Gerrity, Dillan Holt, Jonathan Kerzeja, Mike Martin, Colin Robinson, Jeff Stevens, Matt Stevens, Robbie Wallet, Brandon Wesley, Dan Woike, and Tim Woike.

In, 2007 the scouts completed many activities. They continued Scout Sundays monthly. They went to Lost Lake for summer camp; Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and went on a High Adventure. The scouts hiked the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. One of the scouts grabbed a copperhead snake and was bitten twice and had to be helicoptered to the nearest hospital. The senior scouts acted quickly and flagged down a truck for transport to the ranger station for the airlift. Thankfully, all ended well.

In 2008, the troop started going to Cole Canoe Base for summer camp as the Lost Lake camp was closed.

The Scouts continued their many activities and adventures.

In 2010, Ron Bush continued as Scoutmaster. The troop went on a High Adventure hike and left the trail to arrive at historic Harper's Ferry. It felt like they were stepping back into time. They then went on to attend the National Jamboree celebrating the 100th anniversary of scouting. Afterward they went to Washington DC to visit many of the nation's monuments and great buildings. We even toured the pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Central Intelligence Agency.

In 2010, the scouts were Brandon Bush, Jonathan Cochran, Preston English, Eric Martin, Enzo Monaghan, Matt Stevens, Jaedyn Vincent, Ryan Ward, and Tim Woike.

In 2011 The troop resumed their yearly summer camps at Cole Canoe Base, staying at the Rifle River campground. During that week they canoed down the rifle river from an access point all the way back to their campground. That year they continued their yearly tradition of hosting the blind at the Lenox Center, helped with St. Robert Bellarmine's annual homeless week (where the troop helped serve food to the homeless staying in the Gym at St. Roberts), and held a food drive for Redford Interfaith. The troop fundraised with bottle drives and through their help with St. Robert's annual lenten fish fries. We had two Eagle Scouts that year, Matthew Stevens and Timothy Woike, who celebrated their achievement at the Eagle Ceremony on October 29th.

In 2012, the scouts were Jonathan Brown, Preston English, Hunter Frederickson, Eric Martin, Enzo Monaghan, Antonio Stone, Jaedyn Vincent, Talyn Vincent, and Ryan Zurenko. In the fall and winter, the scouts were active again with canned good drives that benefitted Redford Interfaith, bottle drives, selling hot chocolate at the Redford Tree Lighting, and continued serving dinner for the blind people at the Lenox center in Detroit. We had two Eagle Scouts this year, Brandon Bush and Jonathan Cochran, who celebrated their Eagle Ceremony on May 12th.

In 2013, the scouts were Michael Arble, Tony Buscemi, Preston English, Hunter Frederickson, Gasper Havier, Jonathon Havier, Nicholas Maccani, Eric Martin, Enzo Monaghan, Antonio Stone, and Jaedyn Vincent. In April, the troop returned to Wright Patterson Air Force Base to camp and visit the Air Force Museum. On June 23rd, we camped at St. Roberts, where we built a monkey bridge and jointly celebrated SRB's 60th anniversary and our 50th.
